I first came into contact with Flamenco music when I had my first shop, Fretted Instruments, in New York City (1963-67). Located in Greenwich Village I was exposed to many varied musical styles and Flamenco was one of my favorites. The first group I watched was composed of David “El Rubio” Jones, Freddie Mejia, and David (Jose) Rubio. I am still friends with all three of these musicians, and David Rubio is now a luthier known all over the world. I also worked with Eugene Clark at that time and this has had the most profound effect on my outlook. I am also still friends with Eugene.

So I have spent many years around great players and singers and dancers and guitar-makers in this tradition, and my Marc Silber Flamenco guitars embody what I have learned.

Winner of 1998 Players’ Choice Award (from Acoustic Guitar Magazine, Nov., 1998):

These finely crafted instruments brought the honor of the 1998 Players’ Choice Award from Acoustic Guitar Magazine for “best in the class”. I am very proud of being recognized with this award.
